Linksys Router settings for Online Gaming


Every one of this new generation of 21st century loves gaming, especially online gaming. To play games on PC, XBox, or Playstation consoles, we generally use Wifi. Linksys is one of the trusted brands in Wifi routers industry, and it ensures that your gaming experience is lag-free. We usually find that some gaming consoles encounter problems in connecting to the Internet through the router. This occurs due to NAT.

Network Address Translation is the ability of a router through which it translates a public IP to a private IP address or vice-versa and it adds a firewall to the router. To solve the problem you will need to change the NAT port configuration to Open, Moderate or Strict type. 


For this, follow the steps



1> Connect your PC with Wifi network and visit a web browser.

2> Enter 192.168.1.1 or just visit www linksyssmartwifi com and enter login details.

3> On the following page, click on Status tab.

4> Scroll down in Status tab, and click on “Configuration Type” panel. Now check if you have a private IP or public IP address.

5> If private, set the modem to “Bridge” mode. This mode can also be done by enabling Demilitarized Zone on a PC and using Public IP.


Now, check IP of a gaming console. If it is static, do port forwarding on the route for allowing connection to pass through. It can also be done by enabling Demilitarized Zone on your computer and then port forwarding specifically for your console. You can also configure Universal Plug and play on Linksys router by visiting the “Administration” tab on Routers homepage. To check if it worked, visit again www linksyssmartwifi com.
